What is ISO 14644?
ISO 14644 is the standard for cleanrooms and associated controlled environments such as data centres which provides the classification of air cleanliness by particle concentration in the 0,1 µm to 5 µm range.
This standard is applied to data centres to ensure that ICT equipment is operating under appropriate air quality levels to ensure continuous operation for mission critical applications. Measurement is performed with specialised equipment and according to stringent procedures as outlined in the standard.
An ISO 14644 is important for any type and size of data centre running mission critical applications.
Why ISO 14644 certification?
Information is an asset which, like other important business assets, has a value to an organisation and consequently needs to be suitably protected.
This standard will help your company to ensure that the data centre environment is meeting the environmental air quality in which your critical ICT equipment is operating ensuring no disturbances will be caused by the environmental air in which it operates. Apart from this, it has been proven that air particulate accumulation poses also a risk for fire hazards within the data centre resulting in potentially dangerous fire hazard situation leaving both your personnel and organization at risk.
